There's a lot of discussion these days about how to prevent hacking & ransomware. One source recommends air-gapped backups (i.e. offline tapes). In our case, we have a great DP backup system, all disk-based on our StoreOnce appliances, using Catalyst for deduplication. But of course it isn't air-gapped . . . ! Everything is online and could in theory be deleted very quickly. Disk technology doesn't seem to have found a solution to this issue.
What advice can members offer?

The DCBF part of the IDB is growing too fast 50 GB every Month and it keep incresing, check with HPE with Support Case, HPE suggest to change Loging level, but actually we have max SQL and VM backup only. we checked Protection of the backup, every thing is ok. but when we check in internal database old session ID are Displayed but no Protection meida in the Session.
Daily Maintainace is Enabled.

If the Store is hosted on a NAS device, the NAS device must be on the same LAN (iSCSI interface). When using an iSCSI interface, the reliable network connection must provide a latency of at most 2 ms and a throughput of at least 1 Gbit/s.
When doing NFS mount point backup, debug logs showing below error.
It's because NFS backup has Limitation:
ACL (Access Control List) attributes are not preserved. NFS does not support ACLs on remote files. Individual manual entries specify the behavior of various system calls, library calls, and commands. When transferring a file with optional entries over the network or when manipulating a remote file, the optional entries may be silently deleted

[61:1002] XXX reached its inactivity timeout of 12000 seconds. The agent on host will be shutdown
in this case, break down to small backups and set SmMaIdleTimeout/SmDaIdleTimeout/OB2IPCKEEPALIVE etc related parameters can help this.

Running DP v9.08 on Windows 2008 R2 as Cell Manager. We have several Windows clients that after backup objects reach 100% Done as displayed on monitor GUI the backup continues running for a few more hours. The counter on the "Size" and "Done" column continue increasing. What causes this and is there a setting in the "options" file where I can curb this behaviour?

Hi All,
We have copy jobs that run post backup and replicate across data centres to an identical storeonce setup.
The protection for the copy jobs it set to "same as source". Recently I have been receiving warning messages about storeonce space and upon investigating, it appears that the catalyst stores still have copy job data going back to 2015. I have looked at house keeping information from the storeonce GUI and it does appear that some catalyst space is being reclaimed so I'm not sure why this data still exists.
After having a google around, it isn't immediately clear how I would remove this data. Any advice would be welcomed!

SQL Integration backup started getting failed with below error, check with SQL team and have Sysadmin permission for the DP User. SQL team dint change anything and Windows team also not changed (as they update to me)

This can be caused by an authentication issue with the PostGres database. To solve this issue try changing the user account for the Data Protector OMNIINET service to the "Local System" account.

When i trie to connetc from Backup Navigator GUI to cell-meneger (working on Windows 2012 R2, DP version 9) i get error:

We had to rebuild of Data Protector 9 Cell Manager on MS Windows 2012. We do our backups to a Catalyst store on an HPE Storeonce. Is it possible to import our existing Backups into our new DP Cell Manager?

Description:
Backup could not be started because CsaStartSession function failed.
DP version is 9.08, we did not had this issue before after upgrading to 9.08_113 we are getting this error.
can some one provide fix for this.
OMNISV restart did not fix the issue and also no hung omni process are there CPU usage is below 40%

If you run the same backup running DP inet service under domain account with necessary rights it works fine. Please use this as workaround meanwhile issue is resolved and open support case for to get a possible solution.

This is the situation, I have a Redhat 6.2 CM and a client Solaris 10, this solaris previously had Disk agent and Media Agent installed, for many reasons we uninstalled them and deleted the client, then we tried reinstalling the agents in the client locally with:
./omnisetup.sh -server cm.domain.com -install da,ma
this installs components but when importing we get "import host failed [111] conection refused"; when trying to import from gui we get "[12:1625] Import host failed".
When we tried remote installation the same problem appeared, components installed correctly but import host failed.
hostnames are handled by /etc/hosts file in both servers, pings work fine, ssh connection from CM to client works fine, telner cm.domain.com 5555 is ok but, when I try "telnet client.domain.com 5555" I get "conection refused".
Before you tell me this is a firewall issue (I checked firewalls also, all down) when I try "netstat -na | grep 5555" in the client I get nothing, as if services were not running.
I think I checked all common issues but nothing, please help...

- We install .NET3.5 to Windows Server 2012 R2 (Exchange Server.)
We haven't got more idea....
