We are trying to configure COFC backups of our physical server estate and our VMWare server estate. (DP 9.07)
I am happy with the StoreOnce Catalyst Store creation process, and we are 99% happy the new devices have been created correctly under DP.
My question is specifcally around the zoning and data flow as we want to ensure we are getting the performance and throughput we should expect.

I would really appreciate some clarification as to what entries are required per zone and to achive a good data flow to our new Catalyst store .. The VMware in particular we are a bit confused around as these dont use traditional disk agent style backups.

My DP environment contains over 350 clients, almost half of which are W2K3.
My security colleagues have identified a vulnerability that mandated an upgrade (ultimately) to DP 9.07_110, which I have implemented and will be pushing out to all but the W2K3 clients (since they won't upgrade remotely).
For the W2K3s, it has been recommended that we enable Encrypted Communication Control and use that to mitigate the risk on the older servers. I did this yesterday and switched it on on a handful of clients to see what happened. This morning I arrived in to find that a number of backups and copies had either lost connection or failed with a variety of messages.
Having nothing else to look at for the solution, I decided to turn off ECC, and was able to disable it on all but one of the clients, and not at all on the CM.
I recalled reading somewhere that the Cell_info file held the key, and located the last client. I removed the string "encryption 1" from its entry, saved the file and restarted omniinet.exe on the client before refreshing the GUI, where I could see that the server was now (as far as the GUI was concerned) unencrypted.
Tried again to disable it on the CM (thinking that the issue with the last client had prevented it) but without success. Same result at CLI:

At this point, my next thought is to take a copy of the Cell_info file, then edit the live file to remove the "encryption 1" string from the CM members' entries before restarting services again.
My only concern is whether this will be sufficient, or if it might cause more problems than it fixes?
If anyone has had prior experience with this I'd appreciate any advice.

When you configure a Solaris server to use Storeonce Hardware CoFC driver we need to run the following commands to enable the driver in solaris and use the gateways.
add_drv -vi scsiclass,03 sgen
update_drv -vai scsiclass,03 sgen
After that we can configure the gateways and this should work.

Currently i'm testing backup in new environment [version 9.07] but i've checked a few backup jobs of Virtual machine where i have many physical RDM [compatiblity mode : Physical]
Does anyone know how to backup large size RDM in data protector ? or Is it supported?

In Data Protector 9.05 there has been a new omnirc variable which controls the maximum number of Virtual Machine Disk Agent objects that are started concurrently.
# OB2_VEAGENT_DISK_CONCURRENCY=<vm disk concurrency>
# Default: 10
# This setting is used to calculate a safe number of disk threads to be started
# in parallel. This is the total number of disks that can be run in parallel at any
# given time. The disks selected are from any of the running VM threads.

Set this parameter in the omnirc file on the backup host to achieve the desired results.

Can you please explain how to import one cell manager as a foreign cell manager into another cell manager.My requirement is to configure Cataylst store replication using ARS between two sites.Both sites does have individual cell managers.

I am getting this error on DP 9.07 . It seems like an acient issue related to 6.11 but I am getting it on 9.07.
It happens when I start a cli backup from a windows cell manager to a linux agent.
Quite bizar, I have not been able to deterine where the issue occurs. Not sure if this is the cell manager or the agent.
Also, there is no clue on which file this error may apply to. Some corrupt or missing or inaccessible file, but which one?
Any input taughts remarks are welcome...

I run an incr job everyday that copy data from two different drives on the same server. On one of those drive, the backup is taken in full (lun), on the other (physical drive on the serveur) incr. I don't understand why as the job is set to incr and on the two drive the archive bit is coherent. I can't take a full backup regularly because the data qty is too voluminous.

Oracle control file backup failed.
When I check the integration from the command line it comes back good:
(root@sappss)# ./util_sap.exe -CHKCONF PSS

When I do the Configuration check from inside the GUI it also comes back OK.
In the alert log there were no issues (wonder why it did 2 though):

[Cause]
DP services should be started up as a part of cluster package , because
IDB is on shared volume and the volume needs to be activated and mounted
before DP services starting up .
During DP installation in cluster environment , auto start of DP services is disabled .
However , after GR patch is installed , auto start is enabled inappropriately .
[Workaround / Fix]
To disable auto start of DP services , please execute "chkconfig --del omni"
command after GR patch installation on all ServiceGuard cluster nodes.
The issue will be fixed in future GR patch .

I need a list of all Oracle-objects stored in Catalog.
with omnidb -oracle8 <node>:<set> its possible to see it.
But I need a list of all Backups of one node.
for Example:
ORA_PROD_DB1<DB1_xxx:xxxxxxxxx:x>dbg
All Backups of the Oracle-DB "DB1" should be listed!
is this possible?

crontab has omnitrig entry even though it is standby node of Cluster .
# crontab -l
# omnitrig entry was automatically added by Data Protector

It will happen that auto start of DP services is enabled by GR patch installation .
Because of that , "omnisv.sh start" will be executed by reboot and omnitrig will be registered in crontab .
[Workaround / Fix]
Please execute "/opt/omni/sbin/omnisv.sh stop" on the standby cluster node.
It removes the omnitrig entry from crontab .
To disable auto start of DP services , please execute "chkconfig --del omni" command as well .
The issue will be fixed in future GR patch .
How do I set this up. I have 4 file servers going to the same device. I installed the media and disk agents. Ive spent an hour trying to find instructions. Do I create a GW for each server? When I check source-side dedup on the device, it creates a new gateway, but I cant select it in backup.
Any help is appreciated. I am frustrated and rapidly losing my hair!! LOL
