I want to move Cell Manager installation to different server and do fresh install of new version. I have server A with connected tape device and with DP 6.2 (Cell manager, File server and Media agent). Now I want to install DP 9.0 Cell Manager on server B, but media agent should stay on A where we have the tape connected (I cannot connect tape to B). Because DP is used for backups (very simple, it just writes local files on A to tapes), I want to minimize risks and backup downtime. Can I install Media Agent of DP 9.0 alongside the Media Agent 6.2 on server A? I think this is not possible as both will try to use the same device. But can I uninstall 6.2 Media Agent on A and install 9.0 Media Agent there leaving DP 6.2 Cell manager installed just in case I will need to look at some configuration data there? Of course A will no longer do the backups, they will be moved to B. Once everything works as expected, DP will be completely removed from server A.
