General questions about migrating from 6.2 to 8.1

I have downloaded and read some of the documentation and I read the white paper by author Bob Clark. I have a couple of questions.

1.  Our current cell manager is version 6.20 on HP-UX 11.23 and we are investigating which OS platform to use for our 8.1 implementation.  Of the three choices, HP-UX, Linux, or Windows server 2012, is there a preferred choice?   Does one perform better than the other?  Does one have move problem cases opened against it?  Is one there a preferred future path of the product?

2. Consideration ease of operation – Are all the command line commands still at the command line level for all the OS’s?  Or does the new GUI handle some of these functions like resetting poor medium or physical tape control ( mc command)?

3. Is there a migration manual for moving from version 6.2 to 8.1 ?  I did not see one in the DOC directory of the ISO.
