Hi guys,
in last days I've got out of tapes in HP Data Protector and noticed strange situation that on my backup device there are plenty of available space.
As backup device I'm using VLS 9200 with 200 TB storage which is assigned for few VTLs. On VLS deduplication enabled.
During my mistake I had situation that one week ran only full backups and on HP Data Protector all VTLs gone out of expired tapes.
However, when I've checked VLS capacity statistics I've noticed that my VTLs has plenty of Available space.
i.e. I have VTL with name Library_1 with assigned 80 TB of space which is divided to 2000 tapes with 40 GB size. On HP Data Protector almost all 2000 tapes are used and no Expired tapes left.
On VLS I'm seeing VTL LIbrary_1 storage statistics with such numbers:
Allocated Capacity - 80 TB.
Logical Data - 102 TB
Used Capacity - 21 TB
Available Capacity - 59 TB
Ratio 5:1
Can anyone explain is it possible to use 59 TB which is on Available Capacity chart for HP Data Protector?
When I'm trying to create more cartridge for VTL I see that there is no more available space for cartridges.
How such mismatch could be or this is different systems different counting?
Thank you in advance for your posts.
