I'm currently running a backup of a Windows Server 2008R2 server to a file library every night, then running a scheduled copy of a full backup session to tape every week.
I want to run an EADR of the server to our test environment, and I'm successful as far as booting the DR image and starting the online restore. But it seems to only check for the original file library (not available in the DR site so it fails with "Could not connect to inet") for the restore media, and won't allow me to restore from the copy on tape.
How do I designate the tape copy as the media for an EADR restore? Any help at all would be appreciated.

I want to cleanup my D2D, so at the moment I copy all backup media to a StoreOnce.
Via Object Operations > Copy > Object copy > Interactive > Media
I can copy my VTL media 1:1 to the StoreOnce.
My problem is, I just can start 12 copy sessions at the same time.
On the D2D every VTL has 2 source drives and the StoreOnce a simlpe file store with a few server side dedup gateways.
If I start now for every VTL 2 copy sessions, the 13. session will failed directly after start, but without an "error" message:

============================================================================I have searched for a setting or parameter, which regulate how much sessions I can start, but I don't find anything about it. On the StoreOnce I have a setting "Maximum Jobs" and the "Maximum Concurrent Data and Inbound Copy Jobs" is 16.
On my D2D I don't have such a setting.
Is there any parameter that controls the number of copy sessions?

I have a DP8.12 Cell Manager on Windows 2008 R2 x64 with a 6 node 2008 R2 Hyper V cluster, and 2 2008 R2 Hyper V standalones.
Backups of any VMs on the cluster are failing with

Windows Event log shows no errors.
But VM backups on the standalones work just fine, and VM backup on the cluster used to work (most of the time!) - what's changed? We have patched the Cell Manager (but not the cluster)

I have a backup to disk that I would like to restore portions of it to my disaster server to keep it in some kind of sync.
I think I need a way to script the restore to say this file or directory should go here, etc.
I can't do an exact restore of the production system as it would then act like the production system, the backup is not to do any of the standard cron processing.
I am trying to determine the total amount of data that data protector is aware of that it has stored.
The problem is i have run out of space on my backup to disk location, and i can see the total stored in that location (125TB), but i am quite sure that i haven't backed up that much data yet.
I know i can look at the details of each job individually and tally the total backup contents, but is there an easy way that data protector can report on its total backup?
is it possible ,if yes how ?

My backup server needs to be reinstalled.
it will have the same name, same ip and same structure/os.
i managed to save a copy of the old omniback folder on the old backup server.
What is the steps to setup this new server with the same config as the old one?
can i copy the omniback folder back to same location and just install over it?

at the moment we have a rather complicated setup for our >1000 DP clients. Each backup first goes to disk and is then imediately copied with a post copyjob to tape at the headquater. After that a second scheduled copyjob copies the B2D job to a second location and then the B2D is removed. We only keep B2T.
For this we have 4 different typs of backup specs (daily/weekly/monthly/full), each with different backup level (full/incr) and protection time. Each group has 20-30 DP clients.

For each backup spec there is a copylist that filters for the datalist and sets the protection time.

Depending on the name of the datalist, the protection time of the copyjob is adjusted.
I think this setup is just too complicated, each new DP client has to be added to 4 backups specs (d/w/m/f). Reports are also a problem.
Thus I've creaed a single test spec where I configure the level and protection time in the scheduler. This is working fine.
But now I've the problem that I don't know how to adjust the copyjobs/lists so that they work with a single datalist. I don't know how/if I can filter for backup level or protection time.
My initial idea was to keep 4 copjobs/lists and adjust the filter so that each copyjobs uses a different protection time.
eg.

I need to encrypt the data will be write from a VTL ( from a storeonce 4420 ) to a LTO4 tape drive. Is possible to do this only with the Data Protector whitout encrypt the data from Disk Agent ? Just when the data will be copied to a LTO4 tape drive.

probably an easy question again, but i cant find a solution by my self.
We start to migrate the first SAP Backups from our old environment (DP 7.03) to our new (8.1).
(barlists/sap/* barschedules/sap/* ..integ/config/SAP/*).
The backups appear in our "Backup/Backup Specifications/Filesystems" list, but normally they have to be in "Backup/Backup Specifications/SAP R/3" or not?
I tried to manually create an SAP R/3 Backup but that doesent helped.

I have just finished setting up all my backup jobs in a new installation. In reviewing my backup jobs, I am finding that my incremental jobs are runing as a full. Also, how can I change the timeout period while waiting for a tape drive to become available?
I had to update the firmware on my backup to disk device, and lost some settings. ever since then i have been unable to backup to this unit and get a 'cannot access directory Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password' error.
I am able to map to this device from the backup the windows explorer, so i guess i need to know where to configure the account the data protector uses for access?

I am using HP LTO-4 Ultrium tapes which has a native capacity of 800 GB/1.6 TB comnpressed. Why is it showing an available space of only 102400 MB as shown below? I double checked the tape and nothing has been written in it. When I try to format a tape, in the Medium size field, it only shows a capacity of 102400 MB.

Acciendtly deleted the client with software from HP DataProtector Cell Manager. When I try to install client the again. It is failed at 100% and it is not importing the client.
I am installing this client on HP-UX 11v3.
Please help me on this issue. I don't have knowllegde on HP data protector. I had attached the image file also.
