Hi experts
I've bee struggling with a problem for days and nights: in short, I need to back up Centos FS with a Windows Server 2008 Cell Manager.
The problem is when I install the Linux DA client . The process gives me the following result:
[root@centos02 LOCAL_INSTALL]# ./omnisetup.sh -server dpcell3 -install da
Data Protector version A.07.00 found
Client detected, installed packets: da
Packets going to be (re)installed: omnicf da

Importing client to dpcell3...
[12:1602] Cannot access the Cell Manager system. (inet is not responding)
The Cell Manager host is not reachable or is not up and running
or has no Data Protector software installed and configured on it.
Installation/Upgrade session finished.
I can ping hosts in both directions.
I can telnet 5555 in both directions. (Return me the DP version: 7.0 in both CM and Centos)
Windows Firewall is disabled.
Centos iptables and SELinux are disabled.
/etc/opt/omni/client/cell_server is set to dpcell3
Apparently, the service xinetd (or the omni service) cannot connect with my Windows Cell Manager.
I don't know what else to do.... Please help! I'm out of ideas :(
Many thanks

Hi all,
I want to restore a specific MS Exchange 2007 backup (with permanent protection). The backup was successful and the session log is present in Internal Database > Sessions.
However when I try to restore from Restore > Restore Sessions, the plus sign does not show anything to restore.
When I try from Restore > Restore Objects > MS Exchange Server > servername, the date only shows the latest available date from the servername backup. It does not list any option to chose the media or the specific session from which I want to perform the restore.
How can I select to restore the specific session on this case?
Thanks
We have noticed that at least 3 builds of HP Data Protector 6.2 (32-bit) are using OpenSSL libraries created after December, 2011, but contain no file or product version info:

Are any of these libraries vulnerable to the OpenSSL Heartbleed issue? If so, we will remedy this by upgrading them to the latest HP Data Protector agent version.
Thank you.
I am running DP 6.2 in HPUX Ver3. It is connected to ESL 6322.
It used barcode to label the media. The difference is that, this media label as DPL306020602. I think this is related to the barcode label that was used last 2008. Usually Bar Code should have only 8 Character using Barcode 39 format.
The DP can able to scan the media and identify the slots where it was loaded.
My question is, Can I still restore the backup from this media?
Looking forward for help/suggestions.

Ruel
Hi
Does Data Protector 7 allow you to be able to configure backup jobs - via the object properties to exclude files /folders that haven't been modified in over 3years??
I'm trying to cut down on the amount of tapes we use during the weekends full backup schedule which gets protected for 5 weeks - on the 5th week we have a permanent schedule. Because of our retention policy we have spending a fortune on tapes and suitable fire proof safes to store our data.
Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated!
Many thanks

Dear HP,
Currently we have installed DP 6 on Redhat Linux. Currently we have added other Lunux Servers as a client's to this Cell manager, and it's working well..
Recently we have got another server which is of windows 2008, can you please guide me exact procedure to be followed to add this to my cell manager ( which is on linux ).
I have gone through your blog, and tried a lot, but unable to add. I have installed HP DataProtector Express in Windows server, even i have tried Add Client & Import Option's for Cell manager GUI, but No luck.
Currently My new Windows Server is able to resolved w.r.t IP & FQDN ( though it's not in domain enviorovement, i have made A record's in Redhat Server)
Please guide me furthur.

Hello,
I have installed a DP7 on a cluster.
cluster1 - secondary
cluster2 - primary
Cluseromniback - virtual name and virtual IP.
The problem is that DP is currently working on "cluster2" and the name of the Cell Manager is cluster2. If balancing the running customers cluster2. How I can change the name of the Cell Manager to assign the virtual name "Clusteromniback"?
I read this command "omnidbutil-change_cell_name" applies but also read that gets the host name of the machine so that customers would return if in the file crazy as cell manager configured to "cluster2"
How was configured cell_manager in cluster?

Hi DP Gurus,
I would like to move my Cell Manager from HP-UX 11.11 to Red Hat Linux. Is it possible to move the IDB from HP-UX to RedHat Linux in order to preserve what has been backed up by the HP-UX CM? I would think that the versions of DP would need to be the same and that the patch levels would also need to be the same.
Appreciate your insights!

Please how can I resolve the error
Hi:
I'm testing DP 8.11 recovery ...
I have a cell manager/installation server and a media server with storeonce vsa attached to it.
I simulate the loss of my cell manager (entire loss of the server)
So I start the recovery by:
1. Reinstall the server to the same OS and patch leve
2. Reinstall DP on the cell manager to the same patch level
3. Import my media server (still intact).
4. Autoconfigure the tape libary
5. I can see the tape slots, drives, robotics, etc.
So in theory I should be able to import tapes for recovery. I can import a blank tape, but when I attempt to import the tape I know has the IDB on it, I get the following error.

Hi
Does anyone know how to query DP IDB for files backed up. Examples of the queries are:
"Show all files of the spec. *200801* backed up since the dawn of time"
&
"Show all files of the spec. *200801* backed up between 1st Jan 2007 and 1st Jan 2009"
&
"Show all files of the spec. *200801* backed up between 1st Jan 2007 and 1st Jan 2009 that were in '/dira/dirb'"
I know this can be acheived via the GUI and screen.
I really need to get a the results to a printable list ....hence the need for the CLI command.
Many thks
Hi Team,

Hi all,
I have an issue where I am running very close to the red zone of huge number of filenames in Internal Database > Usage > Catalog Database ( screenshot attached )
How do I address this?
What is the best method to allocate the filenames; purge or any other effective method?
Looking for best practice, as I expect there will be a warning or a possible issue soon.
Thanks

Hello All,
I was just wondering if there was a straightforward way to restart failed objects from a Virtual Environment backup.
When I right click on a filesystem backup I see the "Restart Failed Objects" options, but not on the VE backup.
Thanks for your help!
