Client update error

Hello,

 

I recently updated to HP Dataprotector 9.00 to 9.07 and most of my clients updated using Cell manager but with some clients I have problems.

1.)  Client Windows 10 Pro & HP Dataprotector client 9.00 installed trying to update to 9.07

[Normal]  Starting installation session on 6. lokakuuta 2016, 15:00:15...

[Normal]  Getting list of clients for installation...

[Normal]  Done.

[Normal]  Expanding and checking clients to be installed...

2. Client Windows Server 2003  x64 Client 9.00 installed trying to update to 9.07

Can I just uninstall old 9.00 client from control panel and reinstall from cell manager or do I have to redefine backups to these clients?

DP Version 8X IDB backup retention

What are the best practices for retention on the bakcup of the IDB?

None of our backups are retained for longer than 38 days.

Should it be indefinite so that old backups or those from elsewhere could be imported back in or should it only

be the length of the oldest backup retention?

Is it possible to restore backup taken from DP7 client to DP 6.11 client

Dear Team,

We have an activity where in we will have to take the backup of applcation data Filesystem from a server which is a menber of HPDP7 client and i need to restore the data to a server which is a menber of DP 6.11 client.Kindly let me know how i can achieve the same.Data is backedup in LTO Tapes and i will be shipping the tape from source to destination.

CM OS: HPUX 11.31(both 6.11 and 7)

DP versions: Source client DP7

Destination Client :DP 6.11

Media Used: LTO4 Tape

Kindly let me know the necessary steps to achive the same.

DP9.07 - Cache GRE fails

We have a new DP9.07 environment. Redhat 6 cell manager virtual machine.

ESX 5.5 installed...

Cell manager is the linux proxy

windows installation server is also the windows proxy

Catalyst stores used for backup via the StoreOnce 4700.

When performing cached GRE recoveries, I always get the following error in the vsphere web client:

"Error trying to get the partitions for the disk(s).... Catalog not loaded, message #4303 in set 12"

"Details: FUN_GETSTORE2"

 

any ideas guys ??

DP 8.1; Installing Fedora client, root login fails

Our DP 8.1 cell manager/IS is a linux system (RHEL). I am trying to add a Fedora client to use as a media agent. I am attempting to add the client from the GUI. The installation messages include:

[Normal] <vthdpmediain.aetinc.net> Checking for response from system vthdpmediain.aetinc.net.

[Warning] <vthdpmediain.aetinc.net> Could not use secure shell protocol, instead using rexec and rcp commands...

[Normal] <vthdpmediain.aetinc.net> Valid username and password must be specified...

[Normal] Connecting to client vthdpmediain.aetinc.net...

However, the root password is not being accepted. I opened an SSH session to the cell manager and successfully connected to the Fedora client with SSH. What am I missing on the Fedora client?

Restore SQL To FileSystem

Hi, As the subject says, I would like to restore my MS SQL Server to my local Disk of the machine that contains the Data Protector Manager. 

Please assist/advise. I am using version A.06.11

(DP) Support Tip: Import of Solaris hosts fail with "[12:1625] Import host failed."

After uprading to Data Protector 9.07, Import of Solaris hosts hang and fail with "[12:1625] Import host failed."         

This behavior is only seen on certain types of Sun Sparc hardware:


   hostname:/root
   > uname -a
   SunOS hostname 5.10 Generic_150400-38 sun4v sparc SUNW,SPARC-Enterprise-T5120

   Solaris 10 Sparc sun4v SPARC T3-1


This problem has been identified as an Oracle/Solaris issue.  Oracle has created an IDR to address this problem.

Please contact Oracle Support to obtain the ‎IDR fix for this issue.

Can I push Linux agent from Cell Manager?

Hello everybody, I've installed Cell Manager on Windows Server 2012 and installation server on CentOS 6.4. But when I add Linux client (CentOS 7.2) from Cell Manager, it has error: Unknown hostname, skipping client. On Linux Client, firewall turned off and DNS configure correctly, cell manager and client can ping each other!
Can I use Cell Manager to push install Linux client?

Can I push remote installation Linux agent from Windows Cell Manager?

Hello everybody, I've installed Cell Manager on Windows Server 2012 and installation server on CentOS 6.5. But when I add Linux client (CentOS 7.2) from Cell Manager, it has error:

[Critical] <duy-centos7.duytnb.local> Could not connect to the remote client.
Connection attempts with the rexec and rcp commands failed...

[Critical] <duy-centos7.duytnb.local> Error connecting to client duy-centos7.duytnb.local
Skipping client!

I've searched and followed these steps at /t5/Data-Protector-Practitioners/Ports-Needed-for-Linux-IS/m-p/5808653#M136186 ,  but the problem is still...

Can anyone help me to fix the problem? Thanks very much!

No through put although there are hits per second and response from the server..................WHY?

Hi All,

I have run my first scenario on web tour application, but after using the analysis tool,  I have noticed that at the time there are hits on the server there are no throughput and vice versa-you can see that on the period from 20 -25 Second and from 25-30 second-. I do not Know why? Please, I am waiting your answer as soon as possible

HP data protector and VEEAM backup images

Hey

 

I'm trying to backup veeam files (vbk , vib) using HPDP incrémental mode . The goal is to backup only new files with something like 2 weeks retention

 

So i did a first complete backup of my veeam directory with permanent retention , and then modified the job to set a 2 weeks retention for the following backups:  it did the trick for 2 weeks but this morning , HPDP did a new complete backup , not only the last files created during the night

 

Veeam retetion is also 2 weeks so maybe this behavior is normal ...when the files composing the full backup reference are deleted , the next backup becomes a complete backup

 

Any idea? Maybe this is not the correct method to backup this kind of files ...i have seen a post where the administrators use symbolic links in a dedicated backup directory to backup only the files they need

Tape Fair Quality

I am running DataProtector v A.06.10

I know the default owerwrite for tapes is 

-age (36 months)

-usage (250 overwrites)

Is there a way to extend these values as my tapes are marked as fair even though they are only 29 months old and have 61 owerwrites.

To be honest i can not confirm whats the value set to at the moment as i am not sure where to look to confirm the settings.

Data Protector Backup failed due to permission Issues.

Hi 

 

Data Protector backup failed with this error Cannot open backup device 'Data Protector_(DEFAULT)_eftdb_030108799_0'. Operating system error 0x80070005(Access is denied.).. SQL server and agent services running in Local System and drive level permission in place. Please me to fix the issues

We have bought a DataProtector v6 SW B6951AA and we don't want to renove support contract.

I will know if we still use it and it remain covered with a original license.

Use many slots to take backup Exchange2010

Hi all,

I am triying to use 3 slots to take backups to my Exchange2010, in my backup schedule I have every day 4PM incremental and 11PM full.

 

the problem is only one slot is using to take backups and the other two are not using, somebody can help me.

1I am using Data Protector 9 on windows server 2008 R2

Data Protector: DP versions

I want a method either CLI or GUI that can extract disk agent versions and I can then copy out to an excel. 

We need this to proceed with which clients needing DP upgrade.
