Hi All,
First post here, be nice!
I am configuring a backup solution for our new datacentre, and have run into some problems when trying to backup customer data hosted on CIFS shares on a NetApp filer.
Bit of background here:
We are a Managed Services company, with full multi-tenancy. We have a common resource domain/forest and individual customer domain/forests. Each customer has bi-directional trusts to the resource domain. The DP 6.11 install lives in the resource domain, and the CIFS share is in the customer domain. I have clients installed to many servers within the customer domain, and can backup flat file, exchange, SQL without issue.
When I setup a "map network share" type of job, it fails when run. The process I follow to create the job is as follows:
I select a client either in the resource domain or the customer domain (both have access to the CIFS shares), enter the share name as either \\ip.address\CIFS_share or \\DNS-name\CIFS_share and connect as a user from the resource domain that has access to the shares. When prompted, I enter the password for this account (just happens to be the DP service account). I then get a message stating that "For the backup of network share objects, the OmniInet service on the target machine (client.customer.domain.com.au) must be properly configured. Do you want Data Protector to show this message in the future?" I select Yes to continue.
I am then back at the source selection screen and can drill down into the CIFS share and make my target selections.
I set my destination device (Dell TL4000, IBM LTO5 drives) and set my job options/schedule. All good.
Now I try to run it.
Starts fine, loads medium to device OK. Get a "starting Disk Agent" message with a [Normal] status, but is immediately followed by a [Major] [81:72] -
Cannot verify filesystem mount point: ([5] Access is denied. ).
and a [Critical] [81:52] -
Not a valid mount point => aborting.
On previous attempts, I have also received [Major] [81:72] -
Cannot verify filesystem mount point: ([1808] The account used is a computer account. Use your global user account or local user account to access this server. ).
Any ideas? I most certainly have full R/W access to these shares using this account. Not sure what is happening here....
Cheers,
Timo
