DP experts:
I have a very basic question I am a little embarrassed to ask. I've spent three days trying to login, so I am prepared for a few snickers to get an answer.
We have two rx2800 Integrity Servers running hpux11i v3 with March 2014 patches and a 3PAR StoreServ 7200. This equipment replaces three HP9000 Servers. We need to migrate/develop our Backup strategy. A colleague and I have downloaded a UNIX evaluation copy of Data Protector 9.0. We have installed the evaluation copy on one of the Integrity Servers. It took us a day to realize there was no GUI on the Integrity Server (only a CLI), so we downloaded the Windows version of Data Protector. We have a Windows 7 PC (for the 3PAR), so we installed a Client (along with the User Interface) on the PC. When we invoke the User Interface from the PC, we get a window that prompts us to connect to the Cell Manager on the Integrity Server. We enter the information and click Connect, and a window appears that prompts for a login and password. This is where we have problems. Nothing we enter is accepted. We tried "root" with its password as defined on the Integrity Server; we tried the login and password we created when we installed DP on the Integrity Server; we tried nothing (i.e. no login and no password); we tried "Administrator" and the password of the PC; we tried "Administrator" and "administrator"; we tried "Supervisor" and "supervisor"; we tried "administrator" with no password; I added a user via the CLI on the Integrity Server and tried this with no luck; we added a new user on the PC with the login and password we created when we installed the CM on the Integrity Server; and nothing works.
As best I could check our setup, it appears correct. The CM seems OK (I did omnisv -status), there are no DNS problems, the license appears OK, we have the default users (i.e. omniusers -list) including the login we created during Installation. So what am I doing wrong that I cannot login? Any suggestions would be appreciated - feel free to laugh first!
