This error is observed at Japanese Windows environment with DP9.03 and DP9.04 .
DP9.0(Build 87) doesn't have the issue .

It is a code issue .

Hi, I met a problem when resotring.
When I backup object by 4 drives, it cost 5H but when I do restore by more than 2 drives, it will failed with error: "Retore of object eccplla:P11.15 named "SAP", may be incomplete because some media is missing."
If I tried to restore by only one drive, it will successed by cost 50H, may I know whats happened and what I can do to save the restore time?

I configured two Exchange 2013 CU10 Servers working as a DAG running on virtual Windows Server 2012 ( OS location = German ) .
The backup of the databases works fine, the restore of databases works fine, too.
So far, so good.
When I use the Granular Recovery Environment ( GRE ), mounting the Recovery Database and the "Mailbox Selection" works without any problems.
But regardless of which "Mailbox Search Option" ( Subject, From , Sent To ..... ) I use , it ends up with errors.
I opened a case with HP and sent them the several error messages .
There are Powershell cmdlets working in the background.
The HP support advised me to change the OS location from German to English because the Powershell is only supported in English.
Has anybody have similar problems? What about changing the OS location ?
Any ideas?

I have an issue when running a barcode scan on one of my DP9 cell managers.
The cell manager resides on an RHEL 6.7 system, and is up to date on patches. The media managers are also running RHEL 6.7 and patched to the same level as the cell manager.
When ever I run a barcode scan, instead of listing the media in the library, it gives the message "MSM: Catalog not loaded, message #193 in set 65"
I have tried rebooting the cell manager, and media manager. the omnidbcheck command shows no errors for anything. Everything seems to be running well, backups complete successfully, new media can be formatted. But I would really like to get rid of this weird error message.
Background information
Using Data Protector (DP) to backup a number of Windows Oracle servers, where some of the systems were previously backed up with another Backup Manager (in this case Tivoli).
Where the systems were not backed up with Tivoli, the Data Protector integration with Oracle is working well.
Problem
Where the Oracle systems were previously backed up with Tivoli, the Data Protector backup of Oracle is failing.
Solution
All backup vendors have to come up with their own orasbt.dll library to communicate with RMAN.
Check the system's path setting and make sure that DP's orasbt.dll library is loaded first, before any other.
Another, less clean, way could be to put DP's orasbt.dll in \windows\system32, or similar, to ensure it is prioritized.

For example we have local C: D: drives and shared E: F: G:
EADR recovers local D: data to shared G: drive; and vice versa;
When i check option Mapped Cluster Disk Manually, it do no give option to mapp something to shared G:, because its already preassigned for D:

I recenetly inherited a HP DP admininistration role and I was tasked with proucing a report on our bakcup and verifying that our tapes are properly encrypted.
We are running HP DP 8.12 at at six locations with a MoM at the primary site. Most sites have direct-attached HP MSL2024 tape libraires with LTO5 drives. All tapes should be encrypted.
I beleive I should be able to check the encryption of a tape by using:
omnimm -list_media <tapename> -encryptioninfo
However, when I run this, every meida returns:
Encryption KeyID-StoreID : -
When I look in the MSL2024 managment interface, the tape drives all show 'Encryption not Enabled' and 'Server key not present' under the drive informaton screens.
If I run 'omnikeytool -list -active', I do see several dozen keys. (I am not sure if this is per server or if it is for all servers as they are conencted via MoM).
I searched the HP DP 8.1 Installation and Licensing guide and the only refrence to drive-based encryption is in the appendix where is is noted that it is supported. Seaching the HP DP Help .chm file returns similar results: lots of info on encrypting client-server sessions and alsmot nothing on tape encryption.
I have opened a ticket with HP support and their Costa Rica section is (as usual) less-than-helpful.
Can anyone provide info on how I might be able to verifiy if the tapes written by HP DP are beign encrypted?
Does anyone know of tape drive encryption documetion for use with HP DP? (Specifically how to setup encryption between HP DP and a HP tape library.)
I installed Oracle integration Agent (DP 8.13) in Linux machine which is virtual machine inside VMware ESXi 5.5.0 environment.
Can I run Oracle backup (RMAN) task so that Oracle backup traffic goes to SAN?
Or I can backup DB only via ethernet in VMware environment?
I've been searching all around the web for the latest support matrices for 9.0X.
Particularly Platform and Integration, and also virtualization.
These matrices used to be very easy to find, and a 1. step when upgrading an old DP installation.

But now I'm at a loss, having wasted several hours searching up and down the web.

PROBLEM
In the more recent Data Protector versions, The StoreOnceSoftware service or daemon is being stopped during the installation of any (StoreOnce) patch or bundle. Sometimes this is leading to an error like this:

The setup logs of the bundle installation can usually be found somewhere under:
C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Temp
The issue that occurred is possibly this:

So, the script was trying to start the service even before it was fully stopped.

When the cell server is not registerred in DNS, the standard form of omnigencert.pl may fail to create all needed cell server server and client certificate files :
perl omnigencert.pl -server_id <servername> -user_id hpdp -store_password <password>
If files like ca.truststore, server.truststore are missing in certificates directory, it may help to use an extended form of the command :
perl omnigencert.pl -server_id <servername> -server_san dns:<servername> -user_id hpdp -store_password <password>
PS: make sure you use correct store password, as defined in AppServer config files.
I'm running DP 9 on a Windows 2012 R2 virtual machine. This replaced the Cell Manager that Ed and I originally were pointing two when you put together the VNX Snapshot scripting for me.
I have a client running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.7 (updated to latest patches) on a physical server (Proliant DL380) that I'm trying to use as a media server to stream data to tape.
Server is connected to fibre channel switches and zoned to see two Quantum Scalar i80 tape libraries.
When I look in the dmesg output, I can see the libraries (changers and tape drives) showing up. However, when I try to use the matching device entries for the changer with the uma command, I get either one of two results, neither successes. The command I'm trying is:
echo stat x | /opt/omni/lbin/uma -tty -ioctl <device>
Using /dev/ch0: command executes, but never returns any information (ar at least not within 3 minutes when I aborted it)
Using /dev/sg5: command executes but immediately fails with generic "Segmentation fault (core dumped)" message
I have used this for the past 10 years in various versions of DP, but always from an HPUX server to an HPUX cell manager. When I upgraded to DP8 the cell manager moved to a Red Hat Linux VM, and still worked fine. Even more recently we rolled out the DP9 Windows-based cell manager, and I can do the above commands from a Cygwin shell running on the Windows server that is connected to the libraries through the same switches.
It is only from the Linux server that I'm having this problem.
Any thoughts?

I tried to backup and restore with EADR feature but failed. Its look like DR OS image cannot setup network correctly. Then it cannot connect to backup server. The steps in the Disaster recovery guide is too short.
I tried clonezilla to backup and restore from a NFS server its OK. But i want to backup online.
Or If I can't do EADR feature. Is there any guide that steps: I reinstall OS and clients then I can restore backup into the client.
Please help to do so.
