After patching the installation server to 9.04 you have to delete and reimport it.
Otherwise you will not be able to "add" the mysql integration to a client.
Good... done... works fine ...
Problem :
"Be aware, for using the MySQL Backup you need the "new" ... "Advanced Online Integration License".
So ... how can I upgrade my "normal" Online Integration License" to the Advanced one ???
Hi All,
My Issue is as below, any advice is greatly appreciated:
There are a number of slots in a single VTL that I created that are now showing as 'poor' and as 'unknown' for their format in DP 9.04, some are even showing as just a grey slot symbol with their number (not identifier) and without a blue question mark. Backups had been running fine for weeks untilt his issue began a couple of days ago.
Error messages are:
cannot write filemark
cannot rewind medium
cannot close device
cannot unload exchanger medium
The backup jobs hang at ‘loading medium from slot’, then eventually the next message I get is ‘Ejecting medium’, then ‘aborting media agent ‘servername_vtl_drive[numer]’
DP then tries to use another drive for the backup but encounters the same issue, occasionally it gives the ‘cannot rewind medium’ error after dismounting a drive it has been unable to use. It then marks the slots that it has been unable to use as ‘Quality: Poor’ as a result. They had previously been showing as ‘Quality: Good’ before the backup jobs tried to use them.
I have looked at the VTL and the HP B6200 Storeonce device that is hosting it, isn’t reporting anything out of the ordinary. I am unable to scan both media showing as ‘poor’ and also media showing as ‘unknown’. I am also unable to format that media too, it hangs at ‘loading medium from slot’ the same as the backup jobs do.
I have been able to use the ‘omnimm –reset_poor_medium’ command to change the ‘poor’ drives back to ‘good’ but this doesn’t seem to be much use.
I was wondering if anyone had encountered this before? or might know what could be causing it?
Many Thanks
In my configuration I have the following setup
Main Site:
CM on windows server 2008 R2
StoreOnce Software Store on Linux
DR Site:
StoreOnce Software Store on Linux
I wanted to list my StoreOnce stores from the Cell Manager. Primarily to test if the Store was running. We are on 9.04 and previously we were having difficulty with the Store at the DR Site stopping. We think this was due to bad connections during syncs with the Main site.
The fix in most of those cases has been to reboot one or both of the StoreOnce Software Stores.
When I try doing the following commands from a command prompt on the CM:
cd "C:\Program Files\OmniBack\bin\"
storeonceinfo.exe -list_stores -type=SOS -host <dpStorehostname>
I get the following error:
"C:\Program Files\OmniBack\bin\storonceinfo.exe is not a valid Win32 application."
The first three times I ran it the program worked on Windows 2008 R2, but now it does not.
Why?

Hi,
Here is my situation
I currently have reports that have sent method "LOG" and the lors are saved on our network.
Some of those reports have, in their name (Log to file / path) the variable %date.
For exemple, we are saving daily "list of all session in the last 24 hours report" once a day.
\\SERVER\SHARE\Daily_ListAllSessions_%date.html create report with names like : Daily_ListAllSessions_11092015.html.
We have those reports configured for a long time and we can't remember where we found that %date in the log name would work. I searched in every corner of forums and documentations we have and there is no mention of it.
It is probably not a Windows variable so our guess is it is a DP variable.
What I tried and know is :
My problem is :
We now want to produce report for every job running by creating a notification event that create the report after job ends.
Having %date in the name is bad because reports don't have a unique name and Session Object Report are overwritten over and over during the day.
We could use only %time but we feel that we may loose some reports if 2 jobs end at the same time.
As I said, using %date and %time together will only "translate" the first variable of the name
My question :
Do you guys know about those variables ?
Do you know a way we could put more than one variable in our Log save path in order to have a unique name for each report created ?
Do you know other variables that would help create a unique name (like SESSION ID or something) ?
Thank you for any help you could give me.
Have a good day.

Hey guys,
when i enable the source side deduplication which ports must be open for data transfer?
In omnirc file i found few variables which can be associated with the deduplicated data transfer:
#=========================================================================== # Variables which can be used for StoreOnceSoftware #=========================================================================== # # OB2_STOREONCESOFTWARE_COMMAND_PORT=1-65535 # Default: 9387 # The port on which StoreOnceSoftware daemon/service waits to receive # connections from MA. MA will have to use the same port in order to connect to # StoreOnceSoftware daemon/service. # # OB2_STOREONCESOFTWARE_DATA_PORT=1-65535 # Default: 9388 # The port on which StoreOnceSoftware daemon/service waits to receive # data from MA.
#=========================================================================== # Variables which can be used for StoreOnce Backup System #=========================================================================== # # OB2D2D_COMMAND_PORT=1-65535 # This variable changes the port which is used for command communication between the Media Agent and the StoreOnce Backup system. # For example: OB2D2D_COMMAND_PORT =12345 # Default: 9387 # # OB2D2D_DATA_PORT=1-65535 # This variable changes the port which is used for data communication between the Media Agent and the StoreOnce Backup system utility. # For example: OB2D2D_DATA_PORT=12346 # Default: 9388
Whats the difference between this four points?
Actual, we have a very strictness firewall between the client and the cellserver. And i get no connection to our StoreOnce device..
Got error: "StoreOnce error: StoreOnce device offline, network error occurred or secure communication failed while contacting the StoreOnce device"
Maybe someone can help :)
greetings,
chris
If you are trying to install DP 9.* version on windows server 2012 or 2012R2 and not getting the "Cell Manager cluster resource" screen:
Please make sure that used installation server depot is upgraded to at a least 9.02 patch bundle level. Earlier version as 9.0 and 9.01 don't allow cluster installation.

Hi All
Can I please ask of your expertise in resolving my Disk agent deployment issue.
I have 4 Oracle Linux servers (2.6.32-100.34.1.el6uek.x86_64) and have successfully insralled da, and ma on 3 of these.
We are performing local da,ma install's as we have 1 Windows Cell Manager (version 8.10).
When issueing the following (which works fine on the other 3 servers):
./omnisetup.sh -server server.domain.com -install da,ma
we receive:
The required xinetd or inetd daemon is not installed on the client system.
We have checked the DP support tip and the Xinetd service is running. (http://community.hpe.com/t5/Data-Protector-Support-and-News/DP-Support-Tip-quot-The-required-xinetd-or-inetd-daemon-is-not/m-p/6806260/highlight/true#M149864).
Can anyone add or make any recomendations.
Thanks in advance.
SELinux (RedHat) or APParmor (SUSE) are enabled by default and prevent connections to port 5555 on DP clients.
Appropriate rules should be created on both security tools to allow access to incoming/outgoing connections for DP.
But if you don't know ho to create such rules you can simply disable them by following these instructions:
https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php/472561-Disabling-AppArmor-from-the-command-line
We have a few backups set to copy data to a file library and from there it is archived to tape and then the file libary data is deleted. However, recently we had a copy that hung so it didn't complete the process of deleting the data. I am not real familiar with this setup yet, so how do I go back into the file library within data protector and clear this data off properly. Our other backup jobs using the file library are now hanging since there isn't enough space and I keep getting mount requests. The error I am seeing is:
There is no disk space available for file library "File_lib_1_tapeserver"!
Please add some new disk space to this library.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Hi,
we are performing our first backup/restore tests with a StoreOnce 4500 backup device, DP 9.04 and Oracle DB's. Backups was running fine, but now we are seeing lots of warnings during restore of the Oracle DB.
I neither understand why the StoreOnce device is locked, nor the ABORT request from the client. Any ideas?

Hello,
I need to upgrade DP7 installed on Win2003 64bit to DP9 on a new win2012 server, mantaining all IDB entries (sessions, media devices, ,etc.).
I have tried to install DP9 on Win2003 but it is not compatible.
Does anyone already done this job, or has a solution ?
Thanks in advance.

Hi
We have an issue with the incremental backups of deduplicated drives on 3 2012 R2 VM's.
The data being written to disk is much larger than I would expect to see. To illustrate one of the servers has a data drive containing 1..3TB of user data, which is just over 800GB when deduped. The data size written to tape for this drive is between 700 and 800GB on an incremental job. This in no way reflects the amount of changed data on these drives.
Is there a setting somewhere that we have missed to improve this situation?
TIA
