HP DP8.1 vCenter appliance integration

Hi,

 

I have a problem with vCenter integration (VMware vCenter Server Appliance 5.5).

Cell Manager - microsoft amd64 wNT-6.1-S (WIN2008R2)

Inst Server - gpl x86_64 linux-2.6.32-358.el6.x86_64  (RHEL 6.4)

If after I try to import client from "import ..." menu, it change type, but in "backup" tab I did not see in Backup Specifications Vmware folder.

failed to Add new Device in Data Protector

Dear All,

 

I faced problem when I try to add  device MSL 6030 FC  to CM server "APP-EVA-ADMIN" windows server 2003

 

Device manger in server :

 I opend the data protector GUI >> Device >> Add Device>> Aouto

i checked the RS(Removale Storge) is desable (off).

 

i try to run devbra -devices no result.

 

i can add the  device from other server in same SAN Zone.

 

please i need your kindly advice.

6.11 upgrade to 7.01 failed

Hi everybody,

 

 

Cell Manager : Windows 2008 R2 with DP 7.01

Install Server : Red Hat Linux 5.4 32 bits

Clients : Debian 5 32 bits and Debian 6 64 bits

 

I tried to update from CM with Install Server Red Hat and i have this message :

DP 8.1 certificate

I just upgraded my test system from 6.2 to 8.1.  Now I am trying to get in to the DP8.1 GUi.  When I put the URL in, https://sapap2.ssmhc.com:7116/, it comes back as invalid.

 

So I thought I I could regenerate it:  

 

 

perl omnigencert.pl -server_id sapap2.ssmhc.com -user_id hpdp -store_password <password>

 

The program came back with no errors or even a message.  But the URL still does now work.

 

So how does one get in to the DP GUI?  Does it have to be a browser?  What might have I missed?

Two GUI versions possible?

Right now I have the Windows GUI for DP7 on my PC for our working LIVE Data protector.
I just upgraded our test Cell Manager to 8.1 and would also like to test the new Windows GUI

 

Can I install it without hosing my working one?  Any one done this before?

Backup jobs done by DP, any impact to the LSN or log shipping of MS SQL database.

Hi Friends,

 

I would like to know if backup jobs (Full and transaction log) done by DP will cause any impact to the LSN or log shipping of MS SQL database.

 

If yes than do we have any option of copy only backup in DP? (Please refer :-

We are using data protecotor 7.0. MS SQL integration is used for database backup.

Data Protector 9.01 and MSL 4048 LTO4 -- barcode scan with empty value --

Hi, I updated DP from 7.03 to 9.01 and upgraded the Library fw on MSL 4048 (8.70) Ultrium LTO4 1840 FC. Now a barcode scan completes successfully as follow without any "Medium Type" and "Medium Label" field :

Solaris 10 and 11 media agent

I have a problem with MA on Solaris 10 and 11.

Tested with Data Protector version 7.0.3, 8.0 and 9.0, the results are the same:

Connection to MSL6030 with two LTO3 and HP StorageWorks e1200-320 4G Interface Controller is trough FC .

Tape is loaded into the drive, but after that tape is in Idle state, message above is recorded in debug.log and on the NSR is the following:

 

CHK COND with Sense Key=0x4, ASC=0x8, ASCQ=0x0 from SCSI LUN 0/1/0 Rte x4

 

Please help!

Change Client in File Library

Hi All.

 

Is it possible to change the client that’s used in the file library device once that device has been setup?

 

I have multiple file library devices which are all fronted by a single server. That server is to be replaced and the new server has a different name. When I go to "Devices & Media" - Devices and choose my file library, the client is greyed out so I am unable to change it. Can this be changed elsewhere like in the config files? I’ve changed other things before in DATALISTS and SCHEDULES and wondered if there was something similar for devices. I really don't want to have to re-create those devices again.

Best Practice for Removing a Session from the IDB

If I want to remove a session from the IDB, should I right click the session and choose "Remove Session" or set the expiration of the data and catalog protection to none and let the database maintenance clean it up?

 

I was just concerned simply removing the session will not result in removing the data from the IDB.

unable see images in restore window hpdp 6.2

Hi experts
I did backup of one folder on 7th July but somehow its protection is showing NONE.I changed it to permanent but still unable to browse the sub folder. I can see the folder backup on tape as it was not overwrite yet. Can some one help me fixing this issue so that I can restore. Cellmanager installed on windows 2003 server. It is bit urgent.please help.

Data Protector 8.10 new tape format Unknown

Hi all, 

I have a new Tape library MSL2024 and i have install HP Data Protector 8.10 to  backup. But when I input tape after that scan barcode on Data protector. It still see the barcode but format is unknown and only tape cleaning can see the format.

Pls help.

How to omnirpt list scheduled jobs not run?

Hi everyone, 

 

I'm using ominirpt to generate a daily status report for all  my backup jobs:

 

         /opt/omni/bin/omnirpt -report list_sessions -html -timeframe 24 24 > backup.html

 

Everything works fine, Everything works fine, but if a scheduled backup does not run for some reason (eg, due to a server crash), the report does not show the backup that was not executed  (it will show only those that were executed with success or error, but that did not perform it does not show) As I have a few hundred backups to verify, it is difficult to know whether all were actually executed or not. Does anyone have any tips on how to add this information in one report?

ESX 5.5 Sanpshot backup with DP 7.03

Hi All ,

 

Please let me know , if you any one of you provided configured ESX 5.5 snapshot backup with DP7.03 or any POC done with these combination .

 

As per the support matrix I see DP 8.13 is the supported version for ESX 5.5 snapshot backup .

 

Any input are welcome and thanks for your support in advance

Target data file already exists

Hi All.

 

Im getting this error:

This error occurs arounf 8 times per backup each time it's a different filename. I have tried manual deleting the mentioned files but when the next backup runs, other files are mentioned.

 

Is my only option to delete all files and risk loosing the backups?

Different sizes in backupfiles (Oracle integration)

Hi,


I did some backup-restore tests for performance en diskspace.


When I do a DP full backup to disk (same host as the DB) it give me a total backup size of approx. 200gb in 35 minutes


The same DB on the prompt with rman  (rman > connect target, etc..) gives me a backupfile of 57gb in 9 minutes.


What's happening here?


OS HPUX 11.31

DP 6.20
