Backup error

Hello everyone.When i take backup with dp i have an error like this:

Data Protector 9.x Operating system supported

Good monring,

We're trying to install Data Protector 9.0 (trial version), and we're reading the HPE Data Protector Installation Guide.

In ths section: Installing a Windows Cell Manager, it says:

The system that will become the Cell Manager must:
l
Have a supported Windows operating system installed. For a list of supported operating systems for the Cell Manager, see
http://support.openview.hp.com/selfsolve/manuals.

I was searching for the proper document, but I was unable to find it.

Someone could provide me the right link to the pdf document for operating systems supported in windows?

(DP) Support Tip: OB2IPCKEEPALIVE is now set by default as of DP 9.07

The following three OMNIRC environment variables are now configured by default as of DP 9.07

  OB2IPCKEEPALIVE=1

  OB2IPCKEEPALIVETIME=600

  OB2IPCKEEPALIVEINTERVAL=600

(Note that OB2IPCKEEPALIVEINTERVAL has no effect on HPUX - this still needs to be set via OS tcp tunables.)

HPE Data protector A.9.00 Error "SSL peer certificate or SSH remote key was not OK".

I tried HPE Data protector A.9.00 (88), it always says "SSL peer certificate or SSH remote key was not OK".


I tried to regenarate a certificate with running cmd "perl omnigencert.pl -server_id $my_hostname -user_id hpdp -store_password $my_keystorepassword" and "omnisv stop && omnisv start",  but it doesn't work!

OS: Windows 7 X64 based on VMware Workstation.

Hello,

I am new to data protector, i have system that everyday at night Data protector makes copy of tha backup on DLTS tapes and i change DLTS tapes every day. My process is designed like this that every night at 7 pm the Data protector formats the inserted DLTS tape and after that makes Backup on DLTS tapes and next morning i take out the tape and put the new one of the next day. Last friday i did not change the tape, so the the tape of friday remained in the system till monday. When i controlled the Process state that either the back has been done or not, i saw that there was error in backup process. Now from that day when i put the DLTS tape for the back and try to format it gives follow error:

" Error 4018: Bad media: the media can only be read"

Error Description

"The last time it was written to the media, this had signaled a bad block during writing.The media is marked in the database as read-only. If you are sure the media is not defective,you can delete it from the database and reformat it."

I have tried 6 Different DLTS tapes but gives the same error during format process.

I need a help because it is very important for me. Thank you in advance

HP Data Protector 9.0 Backup to HP StoreOnce NAS Share

Good morning,

I am running an HP DP 9.0 server on Windows 2008 and have recently started experiencing a failure when a specific backup job tries to run using our HP StoreOnce 4210 NAS share. I know its a permisisons issue, but cant seem to locate the place to change the account used to access the NAS Share on the 4210. The error mentions being out of space, which it is not ( 6TB free ).

Manual Cleanup after Restore > PowerOn Dp9.07

Hello All, 

Wanted to check whether there is a particular procedure to follow after running a poweron vm restore. I was doing some tests and manually powered off the VM (the restored one) and unmounted the datastore. After retrying the same operation im getting that the object is locked. Note that im doing this poweronvm through a mount proxy and a storeonce catalyst device.  I would prefer to clean any poweron vms right after the restore rather than waiting for the 24hour window as documented in dp integration guide.

Succesfull session in database, unable to restore from that point in restore section

Hi guys,

 

I am trying to restore certain folders from a server. In the internal database I can see the succesfull sessions for that specific drive of the server. In this case 2 February 2016.

Now when I go to the "Restore" tab to restore certain folders from that drive, the furthest point I can go back to is 28/06. I can't see any reason why the other restore points are not there.

Has anyone else encountered these problems?

Migrating Windows Cell Manager IDB

Hello!

I did a lot of tests to migrate a Windows Cell Manager IDB to a different Server, as described in the Installation Guide DP 9.08 Page 285 ff.
OLD_SERVER was a Windows Server 2008 x64 with DP 9.08 , the NEW_SERVER is a Windows Server 2012 R2, both german OS version.
The NEW_SERVER name is different from the old one, the IP address is the same.
The last successful FULL backup of the IDB is stored on a LTO3 tape.
On the NEW_SERVER I created an LTO3 backup device identical to the old one and successfully imported the media.
After importing the IDB ( page 289 ) there are lots of problems:
- I must definitely replace all keystorePassword and truststorePassword und generate a new certificate ( page 291 ) to connect to the CM
- Clients are missing
- only filesystemsbackup specifications are listed, Exchange 2010 is missing , schedules are missing
- only NEW_SERVER is listed as a client, but LTO3 device ist owned by the OLD_SERVER

It is to mention that the documentation is written very careless ( like /etc/opt/ ... for a Windows Server ) and one point is missing:

the clean-up after an successfully migration , because the db80_restore\idb path keeps the active path !!

Any ideas how to solve my trouble?

Media object copy from command line; how?

I wrote a script that selects from all protected media those who have less than 50% of the used capacity protected (Data Protector cannor do that!). Now I'd like to create a media object copy job by script that copies all the protected objects form the media found in the previous step to another media (to free the source media completely).

It seems to me I can only run such a copy interactively from the GUI (or the manual pages are way too incomplete).

Can anybody tell me how to start such a command from command line? I'm using Linux for the Cell Manager...

Advanced Scheduler Randomly Stops Scheduling DP 9.06

Hi all,

We have a problem whereby the jobs we have using the advanced scheduler stop scheduling themselves for "no" reason, randomly, across multiple environments using seperate cell managers. We came in on Monday and found that on Friday lunchtime the advanced scheduler stopped running any jobs so missed out on a whole weekend of backups! Luckily we only use the advanced scheduler for SQL backups, not for files and other databases, so not all backups were missed, but enough to annoy us and users!

The only way we can work out if the scheduler stops is the jobs just stop getting scheduled. We don't see any error messages, or anything useful, just jobs stop scheduling.

We are going to raise a case with HP but thought we'd ask here also, anyone any ideas as to why this can happen and how we can avoid it? Given the advanced scheduler is completely integrated to the database with no files or anything to look at we can't find errors which could help us work out why it stops. Only way to get it going for us is to stop/start DP services, i.e. omnirc -stop & start, we are running LINUX by the way.

LTO4 load balancing

Hi all,

we use two LTO4 libraries (16 slots, 1 drive).  The libraries are used as the second destination device in backup specification (he first one is virtual file tape library). But the main usage of these libraries is in copy jobs. We have two copy jobs (Copy - Object copy - Automated - Scheduled; the jobs aren't run concurrently). The both libraries are used as destination devices in the jobs. Is it possible to setup load balancing for the LTO4 libraries in the copy jobs? How to find out usage of the libraries (number of used LTO4 tapes per library)?

We use HP DP 9.07

Data Protector 7 Ein Store stoppt automatisch

Hallo zusammen,

Eingesetze Umgebung:

Winows Serve 2008 R2 Enterprise (2x Six Core Cpu, 64 GB RAM) mit eingebundenem Festplattenpool als D: (Grösse ca. 20 TB).

HP Data Protector A7 .00

Problem:

Wir hatten nun das zweite Mal innert rund drei Monaten, wo sich ein Store (von insgesamt 3 Stores) von selbst zwischen zwei geplanen Backups gestoppt hat. Ich konnte keinen genaueren Grund in den Log von Data Protector oder Windos Logs für das Stoppen feststellen.

Beim ersten Ausfall konnte der Store wieder gestartet werden als eine Dirty Datei unter dem betroffenen Store entfernt wurde.

Beim zweiten Ausfall reichte es aus, den Dienst C:\Program Files\OmniBack\bin\StoreOnceSoftware.exe neuzustarten und danach musste aber der betroffene Store auch nochmal gestartet werden (Keine Dirty Datei)

 

Seither (ca. 10 Tagen) laufen die Backups ohne Probleme durch.

Hat jemand eine Idee wieso ein Store von selbst stoppt?  Gibt es irgendeine Einstellung für das? Konfigurationsdateien?

Problem:

We had now the second time within approximately three months, where a store (of a total of 3 stores) stopped by itself between two planned backups. I could not find a more detailed reason in the log of Data Protector or Windos logs for stopping.

On the first failure, the store could be restarted as a dirty file was removed under the affected store.

On the second failure, it was sufficient to restart the C: \ Program Files \ OmniBack \ bin \ StoreOnceSoftware.exe service and then restart the affected store (no dirty file)

 

Since then (about 10 days) the backups run through without problems.

Does anyone have an idea why a store stops by itself? Is there any setting for that? Configuration files?

Hello guys,

Today I found our dataprotector backup jobs failed last 2 days. After some digging, I found that one of the tape drive is yellowed. But cartridges are fine and had enough space to store backups. 

Have you ever faced with this kind of problem?

Reports with Dataprotector 9.08

Hello guys, 

I have a question in terms of the reports from HPE DataProtector.

Under Reporting / Reports I created a group with 8 reports in it. Now every time when the report is generated, I recieve 8 Mails. 

Thats a little bit annoying and fills my mailbox up.

 

Is there a way to generate a report which send only one mail with the reports in the attachment or something like that?

I have a data protector manager which is Windows. Many linux machines are added as clients to the DPM. I am trying an upgrade to version A.09.08. But from DPM, when I try, I get errors:

IDB Backup failure post upgrading to 9.0.8

We have Cell Manager 7.0 running on Windows 2008. Yesterday upgraded to 9.0.8

And then IDB backup has encounter below error message.

    Error while running the PSQL script

I had tried below solutions but didn't work out.

Added Domain user under "replace process level token" in Local Security Policy.

Run Inet Service with local system but still issue persists. Can someone help on this.
