I have a number of on-line extension licenses (Product B6965BA) and am currently using them to backup MS Exchange. I now need to backup a number of MSSQL servers. My question is: can I re-use these licenses? Obviously, I won't be performing backups of Exchange and SQL at the same time.

Is anyone else seeing issues with DP 7.01 and SMISA (EVA/P6000) snapshots not releasing properly? I'm running this in our test lab and it seems I need to wait a yet-to-be-determined length of time for a snapshot to clean itself up, as opposed to the 6.21 worls where a snapshot is cleaned up as soon as the job ends. Right now I'm seeing a couple of days before I can do a snap of the same volume a second time.
I know, I know... open a case...

I have an old box with A05.50 on server 2003, were moving to a newer box with server 08r2 and dataprotector8. Is it possible to move or export the a05.50 idb backup database to this new machine. Were goign to keep the MSL6000 storage works library. Do I need to keep the same cell names ect ect.

- 2 X Windows 2012 server clients with MS SQL Server 2012 Alwayson enabled.
We have a 2 node SQL Server 2012 cluster. Anyone know how we can configure the DP integration to point the backup to the passive node only?

I am planning to implement a new backup solution to improve our backup capability.
I have serveral old EVA storages, like EVA4100, EVA4400, EVA6000. I was going to use direct backup in my solution at first, but I noticed that this concept was never appeared after DP version 6.0. Then I wanted to use ZDB, but from the DP 7.0 ZDB conecpt document, the supported storage listed are only some new series（below info was copied from pdf）
HP P4000 SAN Solutions P4000 SAN Solutions
HP P6000 EVA Disk Array Family P6000 EVA Array
HP P9000 XP Disk Array Family P9000 XP Array
HP P10000 Storage Systems
Could anyone help me out , tell if my old storages can be supported by ZDB function? even direct backup?

I have migrated the CM to the new platform. The device and media information has been synchronized. But while I recover the data, I couldn't find the old data from the data list. And the old sessions can't be recognized.
So I want to migrate the session information to another CM. But the platform of target CM is different from the original one.
How could I fix the problem?

I have upgraded a DP CM from 6.2 to 7.01 on windows 2003 32bit, but I missed in the support matrix that windows 2003 32 bit is not supported.Now I am upgrading to windows 2008 64 bit.
After upgrading the OS I will install DP7 and then restore my old IDB on the original location, will it work and make my DP enviornment as same earlier?
Or what is the recommended steps in this scenario.

we are running a NetApp Metro Cluster and i'm already backing up the first node "netapp1" via NDMP.
For this to work i imported netapp1 as a NDMP client and also created a device with a tape drive.
Now i wanted to backup volumes on our second node "netapp2", so i imported it as a NDMP client and added it to the backup specification... which at first glance seemed to be working.
Problem is, it's not. Even if i select "netapp2" as a source client, the volumes that are backed up are the ones from "netapp1".
Our volumes on both filers are named in the same way e.g. nfs1 for the first nfs-volume or cifs1 for the first cifs-volume, so i didnt get an error because the volume i tried to back up existed on both filers.
So my question is :
Whats the right way to configure and backup an netapp metro cluster with data protector ?

I tried to configure exchange 2010 GRE on HP DP7.0 bulid 103. (latest patches.. i think)
I've install User Interface, Disk Agent,Exchage Integration, Exchange2010 integration, VSS integration, Exchange GRE Integration on target mailbox exchange 2010 SP3 mail database server.
Full database backup works fine.
But when I opened exchange gre console, it appears snap-in errors.
and...
1. port 60000 is not running.
2. server is already rebooted after installing agent.
3. uninstall and reinstall agent so many times.
but the problem still exists, I can't open DP GRE console.
Any Ideas?

I have just installed DP7.0 on a W2008 R2 server and added all our servers as one backup job.
We've moved from DP 6.2 on a W2003 server but have not migrated the database or anything else as the database had become corrupt.
Last night was the first run and the backup is still running. It's barely backed anything up (less than 600 GB across 7 LTO4 drives in 2 MSL8096 libraries connected via 4Gb fibre).
Has anyone else experienced this or have a solution for it?
As far as I am aware I am fully patched.

Hi All,
I was wondering if someone can shed some light on a issue that I am having.
We have just deployed a new Windows Server 2012 device that we will be using as a file server with deduplication.
The issue that I am having is that i have read online that there are additional features that need to be enabled on Data Protector 7 that will enable me to backup a deduplicated server.
Is this true and what features would I need to enable?

On DP 7.1, I have created a File library with 2 directories. I would like to move the media files I've got in one directory to the other in order to free this directory and remove it. How can I do that? Can I force the backups to use only one directory?

Hi I am relativley new to DP, but have been doing backup for many yeares. I had a question about setting up DP version 8 to backup Netware E-Directory. Is there an agent for this? I have not been able to find one. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Has anyone encountered an issue with "Notifications" in DPv7.01 where by some notifications work (Email SMTP), like "MountRequest" but "NotEnoughFreeMedia" doesn't? I know I have setup the SMTP variables in the global file as I'm getting reports of the evening backups etc and some notifications, but the NotEnoughFreeMedia doesn't seem to be working.

We are running the Data Protector 6.20 Cell Manager and I need to do a restore of files of a given pattern over a period of time. Im trying to use the "Restore by Query" restore task of the DP GUI, however the results of the files found are being limited to a certain number. Given the pattern and date range, im expecting to have thousands of files in the list, however the result set is containing a lot less.
Is there a config setting or registry setting for the DP GUI that would limit the amount of files returned in such as search?
Any assistance or information on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

i have downloaded the last version of DP 8 from http://support.openview.hp.com , Updated section, and have tried to installed on Windows 2008 R2 64 bit version. Unfortunate the following error appears at the start of the HP Data Protector Setup Launcher:
Operation failed with error 1610:
" The configuration data for this product is corrupt. Contact your support personnel"
Any ideeas ?

Hi all,
I am experiencing a problem where my session reports have stopped sending. I have configured SMTP and it has been working for the last 6 months since yesterday there have been no reports sent out.
All I would like to know is where can I get the log to see if there are any error messages from an email sending point of view.
Any assistance would be much appreciated.
