Filesystem backups on SQL server show databases are being backed up, even though there excluded

When you look at SQL it shows that the databases are being backed up, but we haven't used the intergrated SQL backup. We are only doing a file system backup of the server. But when i read in the messages i can see its making a snapshot of the databases. Below is one line i've taken from the session report of the filesystem backup in DP.

[Normal] From: VBDA@servername.domain "servername.domain [/E]" Time: 22/07/2014 04:09:36 VSS Writer 'SqlServerWriter':Component 'master' successfully added in the snapshot.

I'm going to try turning vss writrer off on this job, but I would have thought that was is what we wanted, any advise greatly appreciated.

Just to clarify, I don't want an intergrated SQL backup, i just want certain folder etc.

The only other thing i can possibly see, is we have just selected to exclude all *.ldf *.mdf and *.ndf but as you can see above, it still makes a snapshot of the database
