Hello All,

I've got a wierd issue here with Data Protector V6.2 running on HP UX 11.23 serviceguard cluster.

We have got 2 ESL library with each having 8 LTO3 drives. I did the patch upgrade as requested by HP a couple of weeks ago and have got into multiple problems.

After applying the patch PHSS_43781 and PHSS_43780 for Data Protector, i got into a problem that Data Protector would abort any backup if it comes accross warning/minor/major errors and mark the backups as "in-progress/errors".

When raised with HP, they were able to give me a LAB FIX for the binaries which i applied and as shown above along with the patches.

"In-progress/errors" issue was fixed but ran into another wierd issue. The backup jobs are locking all the drives and doing nothing. Dirves are not getting released and the subsequent backups are in queued state.

We have configured backups(though not all)  in such a way that one of the library drive would be primary and the other library would be a mirror backup. When the job kicks in, it is able to lock all 8 drives from one library and goes to a queued state without selecting any mirror drive. The second backup spec locks the remainign 8 drives from the other library and does not release them untill I manually unlock or cancel them. Can anyone let me know if they've encountered similar issues and have resolved it. It is really frustrating to have them checked periodically and remove them manually. I would appriciate if any one could solve this mystery.

I've attached some details for ref.
