Data Protector was upgraded from either DP 6.2x or 7.x, to 8.0. After this, when trying to backup the IDB, was getting the error:
[Critical] From: OB2BAR_POSTGRES_BAR@dpback"DPIDB" Time: 6/27/2013 3:53:47 PM
Putting the Internal Database into the backup mode failed
Cause
This was an upgrade from a previous version of DP on a Windows Cell Manager, where the IDB was not
put in the default location
Program Data -> Omniback -> db40
but, rather, put into
Program Files -> Omniback -> db40
Fix
After the upgrade to DP 8, this condition was caused by using a non-default directory structure, and the error
started occurring because Archive Mode was set to Off.
The File
Program Data -> Omniback -> -> server -> db80 -> postgresql.conf
need to be edited to turn on Archive mode.
Stop Data Protector
Edit the file 'postgresql.conf'
Find the line
archive_mode = off
and change it to
archive_mode = on
Save the file, start Data Protector
