There's a lot of discussion these days about how to prevent hacking & ransomware. One source recommends air-gapped backups (i.e. offline tapes). In our case, we have a great DP backup system, all disk-based on our StoreOnce appliances, using Catalyst for deduplication. But of course it isn't air-gapped . . . ! Everything is online and could in theory be deleted very quickly. Disk technology doesn't seem to have found a solution to this issue.
