(DP) Support Tip: Data Protector Log directory.

Location:

Win

ProgramData\OmniBack\log

Unix/Linux

/var/opt/omni/log

and

/var/opt/omni/server/log

 

The Key Log files commonly needed by support are:

Debug.log,  This is a general log file reporting various warnings and errors throughout the Cell, it is found on Clients as well as the Cell Manager.

hpdp-idb-cp.log,  Logs activities pertaining to the Connection Pool service.

Inet.log, Logs INET connection issues, related to network communication.

IS_install.log, Logs events pertaining to the Installation Server activities, push installs ect.

Subdirectory log\AppServer\

All logs pertaining to the Application Server activity, here you'll find the information useful to troubleshoot any issues with the AS server not starting etc.

Subdirectory log\Server\ on Unix/Linux /var/opt/omni/server/log

The results of the daily checks are logged here.

check_bf.log (dcbf health and consistancy)

check_keystore.log (keystore consistancy check)

HealthCheck.log Daily Health check operations and results

lic.log licencing events and warnings

Media.log All sessions run in the Cell Manager and the associated media used. IDB backups are marked as "OmniDB" 

Ob2Event.log, General Notices pertaing to the Cell Manager itself rather than Cell wide reporting. Here you can see the report on the total number of older version DCBF's (db40) as they are reduced over time due to expiration.  

Omnisv.log  Omnisv - Services stopping and starting

Security.log Permissions and overall security events 

SM.log Session Managers activity log

 

This data proves very useful to support and it is recommended to secure and provide these logs to support

on issues which need further investigation.
