Hi,
I'm observing rma.exe (9.06 running on 2008R2 CM usually patched to latest MS critical and recommended updates) crashing occasionally within serializer.dll. This didn't happen ever before, but happened three times since the middle of May. The rma.exe is the source of a copy operation from a SOS B2D to LTO6 tape. For the last session that failed this way, I restarted failed objects. The resulting session again crashed the RMA. Application log says:
Faulting application name: rma.exe, version: 9.0.107.0, time stamp: 0x5702e87c Faulting module name: serializer.dll, version: 9.0.107.0, time stamp: 0x5702ea49 Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x0000000000001088 Faulting process id: 0x1af8 Faulting application start time: 0x01d1b18918257339 Faulting application path: O:\OmniBack\bin\rma.exe Faulting module path: O:\OmniBack\bin\serializer.dll Report Id: 59e9d3bb-1d7c-11e6-8e46-d89d673490b8
I've not seen other reports yet, but it's also only happening every now and then, maybe in a very specific environment that isn't in widespread use. The same backup was mirrored to a SO 4500 appliance via SO Catalyst, and that session did copy flawlessly to another library and tape drive.
Anyone seen this? Given it's a crash, it's probably a software bug introduced in 9.06 which is still relatively new, but maybe support already has cases open for it?
TIA,
Andre.
