The 9.04 patch bundle updates the HP Data Protector Software Version: 9.00 Installation Guide. In the updated guide is a section titled "Upgrading an encrypted environment". This section explains the options available for maintaining the encrypted environment after updating to 9.04.
"Option 1" is to remove the encryptions on the entire cell and then re-enable encryption.
"Option 2" prevents the use of the GUI for ECC configuration. It also requires addition options be used with the omnicc command.
***** NOTE ***** If "Option 1" is chosen, all clients currently enabled for ECC must be updated to 9.04 before disabling and
re-enabling encryption.
