HP Data Protector 8.1 License not accepted on fresh install

Dears,

I have a client with a fresh install of DP 8.1 and I am working remotely to configure it.

I bumped into this issue first thing and can't continue the configuration anymore.

I got the Licenses for it and trying to add it, but with no luck.

I used the CLI, GUI and manual editing of lic.dat.

is there an issue with DP8.1 licenses? My colleague tried the same licenses on a virtual machine and they worked like a charm when ommiting everything from ^8.1 to the end of the line in the .DAT license files we got.

But this DP installation is really stubborn and doesn't want to add these licenses.

any Idea?
