I have a lot of experience in the implementation of DP solutions, but know I have one problem which I can not resolve. I know that is something trivially, but ...
Environment:
- CM - Windows 2008 R2, DP version 8.0 + all 8.01 patches
- there is also MA on CM
- Clients: HP-UX with MA, DA and Oracle integration + all 8.01 patches
All name resolutions work throught host table. All ping works (short name and FQDN) in both directions. All servers are in same subnet, there is no firewall. Windows firewall is also closed.
When I start backup for some hp-ux files to d2d tape or tape library with prefered path set to CM server, it works fine. So I can conclude that DA work on HP-UX machines.
When I start backup for some hp-ux files to tape library with prefered path set to that hp-ux server I receive well know message:
"Cannot connect to Media Agent on system hostname.local, port 49546 (IPC Invalid Hostname or IP Address) => aborting."
So I can conclude that there is MA comunication problem. This probles is same on 2 hpux machines,so it is "global" problem.
I try to set port to some lower number. I change .omnirc file, but error is the same with offcourse different port .
I guess that it is some communication problem or bug.
