We are considering an upgrade of DP from 7.03 to 9.02. Once of the major advantages will be the availability of Catalyst stores over FC. One possible way which we could use this is to backup VMware guests over the SAN. I know that the presentation of physical tape drives to VM guests is not supported and doesn't work when the guest VMotions to another host but how does the Catalyst store get presented to the guest over FC?
Does the MA on the guest somehow have access? Does the store appear as a tape device on the guest (in which case I suspect it won't work correctly)?
We haven't had a chance to build a test rig yet to try this out so thought I'd post here so see if anyone has tried this yet.
